Massage
Although massage is often used as an adjunct within our physiotherapy service, it can also be offered as a standalone treatment. Because it’s delivered by a physiotherapist, you benefit from an added layer of clinical assessment and advanced manual therapy skill that goes beyond a typical massage — every session is informed by a deeper understanding of musculoskeletal health, not just soft tissue. Within a session, we can focus on one or two body parts, using techniques such as deep tissue release, relaxation, and pain-relieving approaches.
How do you want to feel afterwards? Refreshed, stretched, loosened, released, relaxed, or more flexible? We use a range of manual techniques to achieve these outcomes, including trigger point therapy, myofascial release, deep tissue work, and gentle relaxation massage.
Your treatment will also include advice on how to maintain these effects for longer after your session.
Regular massage has been reported to improve wellbeing and flexibility, and to reduce joint and postural pain. And because your massage is delivered by a physiotherapist, if anything arises during your session that may benefit from further physiotherapy attention, we’ll
recognise it and advise you accordingly — something a standalone massage therapist isn’t trained to assess.
